During their regular Saturday night race, a late model racecar carrying 120 octane race fuel had a fuel line break catching the motor on fire. Increasing the danger, the car body was fiberglass. Flames were shooting from both wheel wells and the air intake when two response trucks arrived with fire fighting equipment. One had a pump unit, the other had a Fire Solutions' Rapid Response Unit. The two response trucks arrived almost simultaneously and while one man turned his back to prepare the pump unit, another with our Rapid Response Unit had done the job "with just one shot".
Doug Van Sant says it was "kind of funny because I turned around prepared to fight a fire and there was only steam. We were very impressed. It's worth every penny!" Doug Van Sant is the owner of Extreme Fire & Rescue who were providing the fire fighting equipment for the event.
